Nicole Muilenburg

Nicole is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner who loves children—not just her own. Ever since she was little, she dreamed of being a “baby doctor.” Born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, she grew up surrounded by sunshine, mountains, hot air balloons, and green chile.

She earned her undergraduate degree in Nursing from New Mexico State University before moving to Scottsdale, Arizona, where she met her husband. They spent several years in the Sunshine State, during which Nicole worked as an RN at Phoenix Children’s Hospital and pursued her Master’s degree in Nursing at the University of Phoenix.

Shortly after welcoming their first of four daughters, the family moved to the Midwest to raise their children with good old-fashioned values. However, the transition from sun to snow proved challenging, and they eventually returned to Arizona before settling in North Texas.

Nicole taught nursing for several years before stepping into an advanced practice role. For the past five years, she has worked as a Nurse Practitioner at a holistic pediatric practice in Frisco, Texas. She is passionate about practicing conservative medicine and incorporates a holistic approach both professionally and in raising her own family. Her love of teaching continues, and she frequently precepts students.

Nicole was honored with the “Mom-Approved Pediatric Practitioner” award and was featured in DFW Child magazine in 2024.

When she isn’t guiding parents in raising healthy children, Nicole is busy keeping up with her own. Her four daughters range in age from 3 to 13, so you’ll find her at toddler time, cheer practice, dance recitals, and school events. The girls especially love spending afternoons with Mom at Starbucks and shopping together.

Nicole is also an angel mom to a beautiful baby girl, whom she knows she will be reunited with one day. Her husband is the best girl dad ever and truly has the patience of a saint. Their family is active in church and grounded in a strong faith that overflows into Nicole’s work.

She cannot wait to meet all of the families at Shine and will care for each of your children as she would her own.
