Sarah Cunningham

Growing up in Washington State, Sarah moved to the Lone Star State in 2007. She began her journey in healthcare by studying biology at Baylor University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Medical Humanities. Her academic path continued at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, where she completed her Physician Assistant training.

Sarah began her career in a busy general pediatric clinic, gaining broad experience over three and a half years. She then spent the next two and a half years in a functional and holistic pediatric practice, where she was first introduced to root-cause and natural medicine.

When she learned that Shine Pediatrics was opening a location just down the road, it felt like the perfect match. She was eager to further expand her knowledge in integrative and holistic medicine while continuing to provide compassionate, personalized care to her patients.

Sarah has a strong passion for nutrition and loves helping families use “food as medicine” to support long-term health from the very beginning of life. She also enjoys working with parents to support a wide range of needs, including gut health, infant and neurodevelopment, chronic health concerns, and overall wellness optimization.

Outside the clinic, Sarah enjoys learning new languages on Duolingo, is an avid reader, and is a lifelong Lord of the Rings fan. She also enjoys Pilates and weightlifting and is a backyard gardener who grows her own fruits and vegetables. Sarah met her husband in McKinney, and they have been together since 2012. They are proud parents to a daughter born in 2022, whose curiosity, intelligence, and liveliness inspire them every day. They also share two goofy Siberian huskies that bring plenty of laughter into their home.

At Shine, Sarah feels honored and privileged to care for and support the health of your family.
